Car Woes

Fri, I took the day off work, as Larry had asked me to join him for his family reunion. So, his family came from Canada and Utah and various places, and we went to Gettysburg. Larry came to pick me up, so I didn't touch my car on Fri.

Sat, we were all to meet downtown at the white house at 8am. So, I hopped in my car at 7am and it wouldn't start. 20 minutes of trying, it still wouldn't start. I called Larry, who sped 85 miles an hour to get to me, then drive me into DC, and we made it by 8, unbelievably... Then, we got home around 8pm sat night, and tried to jump start my car. No go. Still dead. Wouldn't even jump. So, I called uncle George. George said he would leave church early on Sun to come look at it, before he did a walk through on a house.

The prognosis on the phone was that it was either fuel or electrical, and I'd have to have it towed to a place to get looked at. Sun morning came, and Larry had to get up and drive to me to take me to church, as my car was dead.... but, of COURSE, it worked sun morning. It worked Sun afternoon. It worked Sun night. I drove it to Annapolis to have George look at it, and he said if it was working, he couldn't tell what was wrong, and it would be a waste of money to take it in and have someone tell me the same thing. So, I had to wait until it didn't work again. Lovely.

So, last night I tried it, and it worked, so I figured I'd be fine to get to work this morning. WRONG! I went out to go to work 7:30 this morning, and it wouldn't start AGAIN. Crap! I couldn't miss work today. Called George, who said he'd come up this afternoon. But of course when he comes up, the car will work... Then, came and turned on the computer to figure out how to get to work via public transportation. I don't live in a very good area for that. I'd have to take 3 different buses, all of which wouldn't even come for another hour, plus the transfers and wait times, and I wouldn't get to work until lunch time! Not to mention getting home tonight, and I have 2 clients starting at 6 tonight, so I couldn't bail on them. So, I figured I'd have to call out today... meanwhile, hoping the car doesn't work for George, he can figure it out, and fix it, rather than telling me to get it towed to a garage for them to fiddle with it. Or worse yet, it works for him, and runs, then tomorrow morning, it doesn't work again...

My solution? go buy a new car today! :) Though, I can't afford the payment. Don't want to be rash, but at the same time, I am so dependent on a car, and need something reliable, I see it as a very realistic solution... what am I going to do? Not to mention, how am I getting to work and Dr apts tomorrow? and the rest of the week...

Goodness Gracious Time Flies!

Wow, I have not posted here in a while!

Where to start? Last I wrote was about closet struggles, which of course are still the issue. I bought all these closet organizer type things to install in my closet the day I had borrowed a truck to take my 2 antiques down for storage, so my living room has become a storage bin for boxes of closet organizers. Meanwhile, I've been waiting for my french mirrored doors to be delivered and installed for my closet, before I start ripping everything out and re-installing my closet. So, this huge task has been just sitting there for a month, bothering me, and I really can't do anything about it but "prepare" and plan, but wait for these doors.

My handyman has become a total slacker. The reason why? HE now has a "lady friend." Lady friend needs to let the man make some money and do his job, or he is going to be totally depending on her for everything... And I'll need to find myself another handyman...

Health wise, I'm of course doing great, but going thru stupid tests. Had the MRIs already, and yesterday had a cat scan. Always something going on, but nothing to worry about. At least for me. Larry came down with this vertigo/dizzy spell that hit him Thurs morn, and has left him unfunctionable since Thurs. I'm worried, and the dr didn't know what it was, maybe some possible inner ear virus or something. I worry that it could be a severe allergy reaction where for whatever reason, everything he is allergic to is out at full swing, and my cats don't help. And whamo.... he is having some weird reaction. I am praying this isn't the case. I would absolutely die having to give up my kitties, and am kinda freaking out as the scenario is out there to worry about... Why can't there be a magic pill for cat owners where anyone who comes in the house gets this magic pill and they aren't allergic.... :)

Job wise, life is very stressful. Combine 2 factors: the company gained a TON of new business, and instead of hiring more staff to deal with the massive amounts of new business, they lost half their staff (due to people quiting or being fired for doing crazy junk). So, here I am in a helping profession, and can't help the people who need it, and get screamed at or told I'm not doing enough, when there is absolutely no way possible I could do everything that is needed to be done, and meanwhile, people die or whatever... It sucks. But, they gave me a raise this week, in an attempt to "keep me" or something stupid like that.

But the raise made me play with finances enough, and if I roll my school loan into a line of credit, it would reduce my monthly payments enough that with the raise, I might be able to live alone! I gave notice to my current roommate (nightmare in itself), so come May 31st, she will be out, and I'm looking for a new one. But, since I MAY POSSIBLY be able to swing it without a roommate financially, I can be pickier in my choice of new roommate, and use the roommate money for home repairs which are ALWAYS going on, but find someone I actually like and can life with.... What a nice thought...

Oh, and I should talk about DDR. IT IS SO MUCH FUN! I love it, and can't believe I haven't gotten into it sooner. Now that I'm actually figuring out the eye foot coordination, I can actually get a good work out as I can do it on more advanced levels, making it more fun by playing with the music more, and also getting me to jump around a whole lot more, making me sweat finally! WOW.... so much fun. :)
