News, News, and more news...

Starting off with the boring house stuff... Wednesday the countertops were installed, as were the 2 new windows. But, the dudes who did the windows left such a mess, we have some cosmetic cleaning and painting and fixing to do. WE had originally planned to have it immediately on the market the day the countertops were installed, but sadly, things happened to prevent this. For one, we had hired John, the handiman we have used for a while now, to put in the entryway flooring, re-caulk the tubs (and install new toilet for the one larry busted) and restain the deck. He said it would be done over a month ago. apparently, he went MIA and hasn't been around nor has he returned phone calls since he half started it over a month ago. So, we have a partial entryway done, and nothing else, and can't take pictures or put it on the market undone as such. So, we are desparately trying to find someone to quickly and aptly finish the task, which is costing us a fortune, let alone the time with the house not being on the market. Enough about the boring house.

And House hunting is a no-go, as when we went shopping, EVERYTHING on the market is a short sale, where you can't put contingencies, and since we haven't sold ours and don't have money in the bank (and can't get a home equity) there is no point looking until we have an offer on our house. Plain and simple. Until you hear more of the news...

I went to Brasil for 3 weeks (most all of May) for my 3rd year of training in the Somatic Experiencing training, with Peter Levine, Sonia Gomez, and Lael Keen. I had originally planned on truly taking advantage of such a fantastic opportunity... of meeting the founder of this awesome trauma work (peter levine) and getting in with him to become a teacher eventually..., to see brasil and have so much fun, and much more. Unfortunately, circumstances were such that I barely survived it, though I made some great friends there, and had one profound experience to write about after sharing some other news...

Might as well get to it. I'm pregnant. I'm due Dec 30th, 2008, putting me in my 9th week currently. I've spent the last few months absolutely and constantly nauseated, feeling week, and just plain sick. I had gained all this weight, was tired and exhausted, and was blaming it on hormones (or lack thereof, ha ha ha). While seeing my acupuncturist a few weeks before I went to Brasil, she mentioned my pulses were consistent with pregnancy, which I found completely unbelievable. After a few days, took the test. It was a very quick and strong positive. Holy smokes, and I was going to brasil, all sick and fat and everything! Guess God has His own plan, and miracles still do happen! :)

So, while constantly sick, barfing, wishing I could barf, not able to eat ANYTHING, and what not in Brasil, I had a miscarriage scare. Things were aligned in my favor, as the group of people I was doing practice sessions with that afternoon in the training were all doctors, and I was immediately put on bed-rest, and had tons and tons of people and support in my room (with 2 roommates and a billion other kind hearted souls to support). Somehow, my intuition told me that if I was able to calm down and take it easy, everything would be ok, but if I continued to stress and worry and be scared, that I would loose the baby. Just the thought caused me to start really worrying, and I began to shake with fear. Here I was at a training all about listening to your body, and working through the trauma in your body. Perfect place to go through this experience. So, I was having a hard time calming down by myself (which is rare, but hey) so I asked some people to help me ground, and get calm. Just as they started, in walks Lael, one of the main teachers of the program, to help. She did an SE session with me, with at least 10-15 people in the room observing and supporting, and helped me learn a profound lesson about calming my body, listening, and giving space and support for the baby inside me. I am typically one to just plug through anything, pain, whatever, and just do the task. Now, I have to listen and do only what my body can take, which is hard for me, but I've been doing it. I was able to calm down, and was on bed rest for the next week (sitting/laying on the floor during the training so as not to miss it). It all worked out very well. I had fantastic support, I was listening to my body (despite how yucky and uncomfortable that is!) and taking care of the baby, and learning.

Anyhoo, after a nightmare for both Larry and for myself, got my airline tickets changed, and came home early, so I was able to get in to see a dr for an emergency visit on Tues, where I got to see my first sonogram, see and hear the baby's heart and have it become even more real! Now, I'm back at work, and finally able to eat, as I have control over what food I can buy and put in my mouth! :) That is helping me gain more energy, though I'm still nauseated and exhausted, but at least building strength to be able to walk around my lovely lake again soon... There are so many stories from brasil, but no time or energy to document them.... But, I should probably get on with some other things. And now, the beans are spilt about the news! :)
